For Ballet, the Crown program is highly effective. It is implemented both during the TRAINING AND SHOWCASE period. During training, we focus on ALL 5 attributes: Courage, Self-assurance, Discipline, Creativity and Poise.

When can my child join ballet?

We enroll kids as young as 3 years old on a quarterly basis. We have 4 quarters, which are 11 weeks long and a 1 week break between quarters, in a year. New Students can begin sessions halfway through the quarter.

Do you issue Real crowns at the end of the year?

Yes, we do. Our mantra is LIVE WITH A CROWN AND LEAVE WITH A CROWN. We therefore issue crowns to all the graduates as a symbol of achievement.

Which Crown level will my child fit into?

This is done as per the child’s age/previous dance experience.

However, if the child is above 7years, they will be required to join a placement class for a minimum of one quarter to test the child’s capabilities and ensure appropriate placement.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?

We always advise for consistency throughout the year. Refunds are not provided. However, in emergency cases, the office offers a maximum of 1 make-up lesson per quarter. If the student requires extra makeup classes to catch up, this can be planned and priced separately.

Are there learning videos my child can watch?

We provide inspirational and structured videos which help the students relate well to the lessons in class. This significantly supplements learning if used well.

How is the progress of my child affected if they join mid quarter and are placed in an already existing class?

Our classes are curriculum based. We limit the number of students per group to enable each child to fully maximize on the teacher’s attention.  This way, each student is assessed as an individual. Progress is done based on a child’s individual capabilities.

How long does the course take?

Completion of the course is highly dependent on the consistency in attendance as well as an individual’s learning capabilities. Perception of growth is relative, moreover learning never stops.

Which curriculum do you follow?

Our ballet classes follow a unique flow whilst still following the classical Cecchetti ballet curriculum. This gives students the opportunity to take graded examinations that are internationally recognized. Our classes also interact with classical and contemporary ballet techniques.

It is never too early to start learning. At this age, the child is able to communicate, take simple instructions as well as grasp simple concepts.

I would prefer a Saturday session, is that possible?

We plan our schedules according to levels. Unfortunately, the number of levels versus the number of slots we can create on Saturday don’t match up. Accordingly, we are unable to schedule everyone on Saturday.

What exactly is the pointe technique and when will my child be ready for pointe work?

For those who are taking ballet classes ONLY once per week, or are not truly pre-professional, we do not offer pointe training for them as this is not realistic.

My child is not the normal required body size but is very much interested in ballet, will that affect her progress?

The curriculum we follow focuses on body weight training too, it is freer and more accommodating. More importantly, students with a background in ballet can branch out to other forms of dancing such as jazz, contemporary and modern dance, which as well are very accommodating regardless of one’s body size and shape.

I want a certificate at the end of the training, how long do I need to have taken the classes to qualify for one?

We offer certificates of all international assessments and exams as well as for participation in our annual concerts. We are able to determine each student’s progress in our quarterly assessments. Qualification for this is highly dependent on student’s consistency and aptitude.

Can I watch my child during class?

We highly discourage parents from sitting in class session as it tends to shift the child’s attention from the teacher to the parent. We, however, allow parents to sit in class during parents’ week each quarter to view the flow of the training session.

What kind of music do you use to train?

We have a music library which consists of classical, inspirational, instrumental and some faith-based music. We select our content very carefully ensuring the lyrics either build character or inspire the students.

  • Whether the student practices while at home.
  • The main objective as to why the student enrolled for sessions. One’s goals will determine how long you’ll need to be enrolled for sessions.

We do provide selected training instruments (those that don’t require the use of the mouth to play) for students during sessions. It is however highly recommended that a student purchases their own for home practice.

How am I able to monitor progress?

You are issued with a detailed progress report after every quarter.

Can I pay per session? I am not sure my child/or I will gel well with the teachers &/or I am not sure if my child is really interested in the classes.

We do not allow per sessions payment as a few classes are not enough to determine whether the child is interested or not in the instrument. Additionally, our trainers are very competent when it comes to working with both children and adults. As such, cases where the child/student has failed to gel with the instructor have not arisen. We are however mindful of your peace of mind and if need be, we’ll arrange for a change of instructor in cases that we consider serious.

What performance opportunities are there for me?

We hold in-house and external concerts annually and biannually which are great platforms for students to showcase what they have been learning. Additionally, we also organize for Media features as an exposure opportunity for the students.
